Planning a Night at the Bowl

A concert at the Hollywood Bowl is as much about the evening around the show as the music itself. The venue is famous for its picnic culture: many visitors arrive early, settle into the grounds or their box seats, and share food before the lights go down. Getting there

The Bowl sits just off Highland Avenue near the 101 freeway, and traffic on concert nights is notoriously slow. On-site parking is limited and often stacked, which means you may wait a while to leave after the show. Many regulars prefer shuttle services, rideshare drop-offs or the Metro, with the Hollywood/Highland station within walking distance for those comfortable with an uphill stroll. Whatever you choose, give yourself plenty of extra time.

Comfort and seating

Evenings in the hills cool down quickly, even in midsummer, so a light jacket or blanket is worth bringing. The upper benches are wooden, and a cushion makes a long program far more pleasant. The upper sections also involve steep walks, so comfortable shoes help. Seats near the top are often the most affordable and still offer a sweeping view of the shell and the city lights beyond.
